La’El Collins Plans To Sit Out 2015 Season, Enter 2016 NFL Draft

LSU standout offensive tackle La’El Collins will not sign a contract with an NFL team if he’s taken after the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, opting to re-enter the draft in 2016.

Collins is widely regarded as the most talented prospect heading into the second round of the draft. It’s still possible that a team rolls the dice on him this evening (the Buccaneers, Panthers, Falcons, Broncos, Raiders, Chiefs, Eagles, Rams and Seahawks are all looking to upgrade their offensive lines). But one of those teams would have to be convinced that Collins isn’t at any further legal risk if they’re going to use a second or third round pick to get him.

Collins is set to meet with police in Baton Rouge on Monday, but teams around the NFL are hoping to have reports from security directors tonight, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Collins apparently believes he has nothing to fear from the investigation into the murder of his ex-girlfriend. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound guard/offensive tackle is just wanted for questioning; he’s not a suspect.
