The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to roll the dice on unretired offensive lineman John Moffitt and are signing him to a one-year contract, FOX Sports’ Ross Jones reports.

The last we heard about Moffitt was in March of last year, when he was arrested on drug and battery charges after he punched a 40-year-old man in the head and got caught with pot, cocaine and ecstasy.
The former 2011 third round pick (No. 75 overall) out of Wisconsin retired in 2013 due to drug-related issues, but seems to have cleaned up his life since his last arrest and has been training the past three months as he’s attempted an NFL comeback. Now 28 years old, Moffitt could face an uphill battle to make the Eagles’ final 53-man roster, but he has a chance to prove himself and will compete for the starting right guard job following the departure of Mathis.
