Cowboys Tell Joseph Randle To Shut Up

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett wasn’t very pleased with the recent remarks from running back Joseph Randle, who claimed DeMarco Murray left “a lot of meat on the bone” (meaning left too many yards on the field) last season.

Murray, of course, broke Emmitt Smith’s franchise record and led the league by a mile with a whopping 1,845 rushing yards (484 more than anyone else) behind Dallas’ outstanding offensive line in 2014.

Murray, who signed with the Eagles this spring during free agency, also led the NFL in yards after contact and finished second in missed tackles forced, according to Pro Football Focus.

Garrett told ESPN’s Todd Archer that the Cowboys have “addressed” Randle’s “meat on the bone” comments and added that Randle “needs to talk less and play more.”

One of our 2015 breakout candidates for the Cowboys, Randle clearly needs to focus on earning the starting job over Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams and save the headline-grabbing and controversial comments until after he’s proven himself as Dallas’ franchise running back.

Just seven months ago, a team meeting was reportedly called because a majority of the players wanted Randle released after he was involved in an altercation with star receiver Dez Bryant during practice and arrested for stealing underwear and cologne. During his jail time, he also allegedly mocked a female jail employee and the arresting process.

Then, in early February of this year, Randle was arrested for marijuana possession and domestic abuse after allegedly pointing a gun at the mother of his child at a hotel in Wichita, Kansas.

“Everything you go through in life you learn from it, and I learned from it and I’ve moved past it,” Randle said of his two arrests, via Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “I’ve grown up. I’ve made some young and silly mistakes, but I’m moving forward.”
