Ray McDonald has been arrested yet again. No, seriously. Just two days after getting arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman who was holding a baby, the former San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears defensive end was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly violating a restraining order, per Katie Nelson of the San Jose Mercury News.
The restraining order was issued following Monday’s arrest and required McDonald to stay away from the residence of his ex-fiancée. This is McDonald’s fifth arrest since 2010 and his fourth arrest in nine months.
Chicago took a chance on him two months ago because of his impressive play from last season, his familiarity with Bears new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio (who served the same role in San Francisco the last four years) and because the first two domestic violence charges against McDonald were ultimately dropped.
But the Bears had no choice but to cut him following Monday’s arrest, and it seems highly unlikely that the soon-to-be 31-year-old will ever play in the NFL again.
In eight seasons (all with the 49ers), the former 2007 third round pick (No. 97 overall) out of the University of Florida has appeared in 115 contests (68 starts) and recorded a total of 210 tackles with 19.5 sacks, 10 pass deflections, four forced fumbles and one interception, which was returned for a touchdown.
