Bengals Sign Terrelle Pryor

The Cincinnati Bengals made several moves on Sunday. In addition to parting ways with tight end Kevin Brock, the team added five players to their roster, most notably quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor was released by the Chiefs last week after spending just 42 days on their roster. He also spent the 2014 offseason and preseason with the Seahawks, but was released during final cuts and hasn’t played in a regular season game since the end of the 2013 campaign with the Oakland Raiders.

A former 2011 supplemental draft pick out of Ohio State, Pryor tried out for the Bengals on Friday, and the team came away impressed enough to hand him a contract and let him compete for the backup job.

Through 15 contests (10 starts), Pryor has completed 170 of 302 passes (56.3 percent) for 1,953 yards with a 9:12 TD-to-INT ratio. He’s also rushed for 627 yards and three touchdowns on 93 carries (6.7 YPC).

At 6-foot-4 and 233 pounds with 4.4 wheels, Pryor is one of the league’s most imposing athletes, but his limitations as a passer and hellbent conviction to remain a quarterback will keep him on the sidelines.

The other four additions are former Oregon safety Erick Dargan, Mount St. Joseph tight end John Peters, Washington State defensive tackle Kalafitoni Pole and seventh round receiver Mario Alford.
